A two-year-old child was raped and killed in Bauchi, the state capital, according to the Bauchi Police Command.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Ahmed Wakil, the command’s police public relations officer, said that the Ningi Police Divisional Headquarters had been notified of the discovery of a two-year-old infant’s lifeless body next to a mosque on Deneva Street in the Ningi Local Government Area. The body was suspected of having been raped.

Detectives were sent to the area after the report was received, and the victim’s body was sent to the General Hospital Ningi, where a medical report verified that the infant had died as a consequence of severe injuries sustained due to penetration, Wakil said.

“The Divisional Police Officer has been instructed by the state Commissioner of Police, Auwal Mohammed, to put in extra effort in order to capture the criminals and bring them to justice.

“He also urged guardians and parents to make sure their kids are safe and not let them roam the streets.”

Additionally, the command asked the public for any helpful information that would aid in the capture and prosecution of the offenders.
