The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has initiated an investigation into allegations of homosexual misconduct involving two of its church leaders. To facilitate a thorough inquiry, the church has issued a dedicated phone number and email address, encouraging church members and the public to provide evidence related to the case.
The allegations surfaced on Tuesday, prompting the church to suspend Pastor Ayorinde AdeBello and Deacon Oke Mayowa from their positions. The accused leaders are alleged to have engaged in homosexual misconduct involving young members within the church.
In response, RCCG appointed the Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Administration to lead an intensive two-week investigation into the matter. A statement signed by RCCG’s National Overseer, Pastor Sunday Akande, titled “RCCG Addresses Allegations Against Youth Ministers,” confirmed the church’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
“We encourage anyone with pertinent evidence that could assist our investigation to come forward,” Pastor Akande said. “Please note that only substantiated evidence directly related to this case will be considered; other submissions will not be reviewed. All evidence should be forwarded to the Special Assistant to the General Overseer [Administration] via rccgadm@gmail.com or 09039000700.”
The church’s investigation includes precautionary measures, suspending the youth ministers from all duties pending the outcome. Pastor Akande reaffirmed RCCG’s principles of holiness and dedication to transparency, stating, “We are committed to upholding our core values and will not tolerate actions that contradict our teachings or attempt to cover up misconduct.”
The church’s public stance and call for evidence demonstrate its emphasis on a thorough and just resolution, with RCCG thanking the public in advance for their assistance and cooperation in the matter.
