Renowned Nigerian clergy, Apostle Femi Lazarus, has sparked a heated debate after condemning men who claim they cannot love their wives more than their mothers.

“In a relationship, your priority should change from your mother to your wife,” Apostle Lazarus emphasized in a thought-provoking video on his Instagram page. “From the moment you say ‘yes, I do,’ your priority should change.”

He questioned the logic behind men prioritizing their mothers over their wives, saying, “It is dysfunctional to say ‘I cannot love my wife more than my mom.’ Why did you marry her? Your mom has her own husband; how can she win in two places?”

Apostle Lazarus also advised women to be cautious when choosing partners, urging them to “marry a man, not a mummy’s boy.” He added, “Any man who can’t stand his ground to defend his territory is not a man.”

Furthermore, he offered guidance to women on how to be good wives, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and understanding in marriage. “Let me beg you, ladies, marry a man and not a mummy’s boy,” he pleaded.

According to Legit.ng, the message generated varied reactions, with some applauding his stance and others sharing contrasting opinions.

@the.stells: “Yes, so your mommy should better go sit at the backseats. Wifey stays as passenger princess, thank you.”

@nefertiti_herselff: “I need to worship in this church… una dey enjoy o….. wisdom left and right.”

@pcsan_film: “I love my mum more than my wife.”
