The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a hotel manager in Dopemu, Lagos, when an unidentified woman died during a short stay at a local hotel.
According to Police Public Relations Officer SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the incident occurred on Friday, October 11, at approximately 9:30 pm. A man, whose identity remains unknown, checked into the hotel with the woman, requesting a short stay.
Hundeyin stated, “The hotel manager reported that after an hour, the woman rushed out, claiming she felt hot, and he provided her with cold water to drink. She was later taken to a hospital on Dopemu Road, where she passed away at 10:45 pm.”
The man fled the scene, leaving no identification or contact information. The hotel manager, who also failed to document the couple’s details, has been taken into custody.
“The manager’s failure to obtain necessary information from the couple is being investigated,” Hundeyin said. “The corpse has been deposited at Mainland General Hospital mortuary in Yaba for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.”
The Lagos State Police Command is working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. The hotel manager’s arrest is part of the ongoing investigation. The police said the bank manager would be assisting in the investigation
SP Hundeyin urged anyone with information about the incident or the deceased woman’s identity to contact the police.
“We are reviewing the hotel’s CCTV footage and conducting interviews with staff and guests,” Hundeyin added. “We appeal to the public to come forward with any information that may aid our investigation.”
