A young Nigerian woman, Toba Increase Oluwafunmilayo, has gained attention online for her unusual name after announcing her graduation from Covenant University with an accounting degree.

Toba shared a photo of herself wearing an academic gown and holding a diploma scroll on social media, captioning it, “See my beautiful smile, nau.” Her post quickly went viral, with many users focusing on her unique middle name, “Increase.”

A lot of people praised her name, with @mista_triumph commenting, “Increase that studied accounting. It was meant to be.” @ODINAKA___ translated her name into English, saying, “If it increases, God gives me joy.” Others, like @Holar_Folarin, questioned the origin of such a name.

Content creator Justin UG retweeted her post, saying, “Beautiful name as well.” @AfricanPhotogee joked, “First thing that came to my head was Justin; immediately I saw her name. Sounds like something he can use.”

Some users shared similar experiences with unique names. @MisterPsalm said, “I know two sisters; the first one bears Great, the second bears Increase. Great Increase!”.

@big_cas4 humorously suggested, “Atp, I’m beginning to think someone actually bears stages of war.”

Toba’s achievement is particularly notable, given Covenant University’s ranking as Nigeria’s best university in 2024 by Times Higher Education.

Congratulations poured in for Toba, with many celebrating her academic achievement and unique name. Her story serves as a reminder that names can hold significant meaning and cultural significance.
