Bishop Abioye, Aremu to step down as Bishop Oyedepo’s Deputies

The Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel, is currently undergoing significant changes as two of its vice presidents, Bishop David Abioye and Bishop Thomas Aremu, are set to retire after serving for four and three decades, respectively, under Bishop David Oyedepo.

This decision aligns with the church’s operational manual, The Mandate, which recently revised the retirement age from 55 to 60. The church’s operational manual allows only Bishop Oyedepo to remain in his position for life.

Bishop Abioye, who is currently 63 years old, and Bishop Aremu, 67, have been reported to be dedicated and committed to the church, with Bishop Aremu playing a key role in the church’s foreign missions.

Future leaders will also be permitted to serve one or two terms of seven years each, subject to the Board of Trustees’ approval.

The farewell service of Bishop Abioye will be held on Friday, October 18, 2024, in Durumi, Abuja, while Bishop Aremu’s service will be held at LFC Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

Bishop Oyedepo will remain in his position as the leader of the church, while new leaders will emerge to take on the responsibilities left by Bishop Abioye and Bishop Aremu. The church’s decision to revise its retirement age and leadership structure demonstrates its commitment to growth, renewal, and accountability.
