Nigerian skit maker Brain Jotter has finally met with legendary highlife singer Mike ‘Gentleman’ Ejeagha, whose song “Ka Esi Le Onye Isi Oche” (also known as “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo”) has taken the internet by storm.
The song which was originally released in the 1980s, has recently been trending as a result of Brain Jotter’s viral dance challenge.
Brain Jotter’s dance challenge, which uses Ejeagha’s song as its soundtrack, has gained massive popularity on social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok.
The dance which involves participants facing opposite directions, walking towards each other, performing a funny leg dance, and then chasing each other to the chorus “Gwo Gwo Gwo Ngwo,” has been viewed millions of times and has inspired over a thousand recreations.
Many Nigerians have been seen participating in the challenge including celebrities, joining in on the fun. Brain Jotter’s first Instagram clip of the dance, shared on July 5, gathered nearly one million likes by July 21. On TikTok, similar videos have been viewed massively, with many users showcasing their own versions of the dance.
After expressing his desire to meet Ejeagha on Sunday, Brain Jotter shared a photo with the highlife legend on Instagram on Monday, captioning it “So happy I did this.The move has received a warm reception, with many praising Brain Jotter for his kind gesture.
