On Thursday, education sector stakeholders set a minimum benchmark score of 140 for admission to universities.
During the current policy meeting in Abuja, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, clarified that the benchmark score is not the cut-off mark for admissions for all universities.
The PUNCH claims that JAMB has received the required benchmark scores from many universities. The only universities that suggested 200 and above were Pan-Atlantic University in Lagos, Covenant University in Ogun State, Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State, and the University of Lagos.
Oloyede also issued a warning to Nigerians about rumors that JAMB was establishing cutoff scores.
“JAMB does not set cut-off mark. What we have is a minimum benchmark score that any university cannot go below. Different universities have their benchmark scores.”
