After escaping from the Jos Wildlife Park, a Plateau State hyena was discovered alive and put back in its cage.
According to a statement released on Tuesday by Chuwang Pwajok’s management of the Plateau State Tourism Cooperation, the hyena was found after a thorough search and was tranquilized and taken into custody right away.
The statement read in part, “The Management of Plateau State Tourism Corporation would like to inform the general public that after relentless search and rescue efforts, the missing hyena has finally been found, tranquilised, captured and safely returned to its enclosure.
“We deeply appreciate the general public for remaining calm and cooperative. This greatly assisted in the search and rescue of the animal. Thank you.”
The state’s Jos North Local Government Area was home to the hyena housed in the Jos Wildlife Park in Dong Community. According to a previous report from The PUNCH, the animal escaped its confines on Sunday and went missing.
Over the previous two days, the development incited fear among the people residing in Dong, as well as in the neighboring state and Federal Low-Cost communities.
