A suspect, Raman Akande, has confessed to participating in the ritual killing of a commercial sex worker in the Ifo area of Ogun State. In a video confession at the police station, Akande revealed that he and two others, Ifa and Ijebu, conspired to kill the victim for a promised reward of N100,000 from Ifa.
Akande stated that he hired the sex worker for N3,000 to spend the night at his residence, where he then enlisted the help of Ijebu to carry out the killing. He claimed that Ifa had promised him a substantial sum for his involvement in the ritual murder.
Raman said “It was Ijebu who hit her with a wood on the head, and she collapsed. After she collapsed, I dragged her inside. I was the one who held her legs while Ijebu held her hands before Ifa slaughtered her. After Ifa had slaughtered her, he used a calabash to collect her blood. I agreed to participate in the process because Ifa promised to pay me N100,000”.
He further said “The lady is not my girlfriend but a commercial sex worker that I have always engaged her services in the past. I usually paid her N1,000 before, but I promised to pay her N3,000 when I went to pick her up.”
The police investigation is ongoing, and the video confession has been obtained by the police. The suspect’s confession provides a chilling insight into the motives behind the crime. The authorities are working to apprehend the other suspects involved in this heinous act.
