In a well-deserving way of recognizing her effort, the Lagos state Governor Babajide Sanwolu has appointed the 28-year-old travel content creator, Pelumi Nubi, as the Tourism Ambassador of Lagos State.
Nubi who embarked on her solo road journey on 30th January, successfully arrived in Lagos, Nigeria on 7th April 2024 from London after traveling for 68 days. Her arrival at the Nigeria-Benin Republic border was met with a warm reception by the state Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the Special Adviser, Tourism, Arts and Culture, Idris Aregbe.
The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Governor, Jubril Gawat made it known to the public through his post on his X handle today Monday.
He wrote; “Welcome Pelumi Nubi @peluminubi_, Our Brand New Lagos Ambassador, She gets a brand new car from Governor @jidesanwoolu, A new home in Lagos, A customized plate number, and one more thing, she is donating her vehicle (the one she used for the trip) to our Brand New J Randle Center for Yoruba Culture and History as a monumental gift to Lagos State”.
In another post by Mr. Gawat with photos of the Governor and the Nubi, he hinted that the Lagos State government will cover the entire bill during her trip.
“MOMENT: When the Governor of Lagos, Mr @jidesanwoolu named @peluminubi_ as a Lagos Tourism Ambassador, the State will take over her entire bill for the trip, she will get a brand new car and an apartment in Lagos. Pelumi was so overwhelmed”, he wrote.
