Amidst initial fears of the broadcast of AFCON 2023 not being available for viewing on the biggest pay-TV service in Africa, DSTV, a new development has alleviated those fears as it has been confirmed that Supersports, as well as NTA, will be showing the biggest tournament in Africa.

The new development was confirmed today, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, as it was revealed that both establishments had secured the rights to air the AFCON 2023 competition. Concerns had initially been expressed after it was revealed that DSTV had been outbid by New World TV for the rights to air AFCON 023.

Parity was however restored when StarTimes confirmed that their platform will be showing all the 54 fixtures of AFCON 2023. It has been a rollercoaster ride for football fans in Nigeria and in other countries as well reports a day prior to this announcement stated that the tournament as a whole might not be available for viewing in Nigeria due to concerns of violation of broadcast rights in the country by NBC.

The recent development was confirmed by Charles Anazodo a popular sports journalist for Super Sports in a post on his social media platform. His post on social media read, “SuperSport WILL air live games for the #AFCON2023,”
