The federal government has officially declared Tuesday and Wednesday, 9th and 10th April 2024 as public holidays in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, disclosed this on Sunday, 7th April 2024 on behalf of the Federal government in a statement signed by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Aishetu Ndayako on Sunday.
In his statement Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo congratulates all Muslim Ummah for the successful completion of the fasting in the holy month of Ramadan, he also urged all Muslims to practice the virtues that entail kindness, love, tolerance, peace, good neighborliness, compassion as exemplified by the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him).
He further said Nigerians should continue in unity to improve and achieve peace in the country. Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo rounded off by wishing all Muslim Ummah a happy Eid-el-Fitr celebration and praying that Allah’s peace, blessings, and favor be with everyone and our great nation.
Eid-el-Fitr, also known as the “Festival of Breaking the Fast,” marks the end of Ramadan, a month of fasting and spiritual reflection for Muslims worldwide. The declaration of these public holidays allows individuals to come together with family and friends, engage in religious activities, and celebrate this joyous occasion.
