On Wednesday, the Kano State government announced that N3 billion will be invested to improve the development of classroom infrastructure throughout the state’s 44 local government areas.

At a stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday at Government House in Kano, Governor Abba Yusuf said that the project’s goal was to establish an atmosphere that would support residents’ successful teaching and learning.

According to Yusuf, 400 security guards would be sent to each local government, for a total of at least 17,000 security officers to guard primary school buildings throughout the state.

“The local security personnel will be employed from within the locality of the primary schools, to ensure effective service delivery,” he said.

In the same vein, he announced that the Universal Basic Education Board would oversee the project to guarantee quality control and that each local government council would receive N25 million for renovations.

“This investment demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving education infrastructure, as well as to provide a better learning experience for students,“ he said.
