The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), together with university vice-chancellors, polytechnic rectors, college provosts, and various other educational stakeholders, will gather on July 18, 2024. This meeting aims to set the admission cut-off scores or minimum thresholds.

On April 29, 2024, JAMB released the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results. Out of the 1,904,189 candidates who took the exam, 8,401 scored 300 and above, 77,070 scored 250 and above, 439,974 scored 200 and above, and 1,402,490 scored below 200.

According to a notice seen by our correspondent in Abuja, the July 18 meeting will be presided over by the Minister of Education, Professor Tahir Mamman. The Registrar will deliver a report on the recently concluded UTME and the ongoing Direct Entry applications, highlighting key performance indicators that may influence government admission policies.

Additionally, stakeholders will review significant issues from the previous years’ admission processes. The meeting will also evaluate the current year’s UTME results to set the minimum scores required for admission into universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

This annual policy meeting is crucial as it determines the admission requirements and initiates the admission process for the academic year.
