According to a statement released on Monday by Leah Katung-Babatunde, the Special Adviser to the Defence Minister on Media, the meeting also considered ways of improving collaboration between the various security agencies responsible for maintaining law and order.
The discussions reportedly covered the broader national defence strategy, including measures aimed at consolidating gains recorded in military operations and improving the country’s ability to respond effectively to emerging security threats.
During the engagement, President Tinubu acknowledged what he described as encouraging developments in efforts to protect communities facing security challenges.
The President further reiterated his administration’s readiness to continue supporting the Ministry of Defence as it carries out its responsibilities in protecting the nation and its citizens.

The Defence Minister also reaffirmed the ministry’s determination to continue implementing its responsibilities and supporting ongoing efforts to protect Nigerians.
He assured the public that the Defence Ministry would remain focused on its constitutional duties while working with other security institutions to address threats to national peace and stability.
The Lagos meeting forms part of President Tinubu’s continuing consultations with senior government officials and security authorities on developments affecting the country.
Such engagements are aimed at reviewing existing strategies, identifying areas requiring additional intervention and ensuring that appropriate measures are taken to address security concerns confronting different parts of Nigeria.
