The Nigeria Police Force has named CSP Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as its new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), following approval by Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu.
Iniedu’s appointment comes just three months after DCP Anthony Okon Placid assumed the spokesperson role. Announcing the development on Friday, Placid described his successor as an experienced officer with a strong background in public affairs, intelligence, operations, administration, and accountability.
A native of Etinan Local Government Area in Akwa Ibom State, Iniedu graduated from the University of Uyo with a degree in Pure Chemistry. Throughout his career, he has completed specialised training in areas including investigative interviewing, crime scene management, strategic communication, intelligence gathering, and rights-based policing.
Before his elevation, Iniedu headed the Complaint Response Unit at Force Headquarters, Abuja, where he oversaw public complaint handling and initiatives aimed at improving transparency and strengthening trust between the police and the public.
His previous assignments include serving as Public Relations Officer at the Police College of Information Technology in Kobape, Ogun State, Operations Officer in Yobe State, Area Crime Officer in Abia State, Staff Officer at the IGP Secretariat, Second-in-Command of the 50 Police Mobile Force Squadron in Kubwa, and Officer-in-Charge of the Force Headquarters Situation Room.
The police leadership expressed confidence that Iniedu’s experience and expertise will enhance the Force’s communication strategy and support ongoing reform efforts aimed at fostering stronger public engagement.
He succeeds Placid, who was appointed FPRO in March 2026 following the tenure of Benjamin Hundeyin.
