EmoSIM Expands Connectivity to Over 190 Countries

EmoSIM, Nigeria’s pioneering outbound travel eSIM, has entered the market with a promise to make international mobile connectivity cheaper and more convenient for Nigerians journeying across the globe.

Built in collaboration with Tata Communications, the digital SIM works in more than 190 countries and is tailored for business travellers, students, tourists, and diaspora communities who need uninterrupted access while abroad.

At a media parley on digital innovations in Lagos, the company’s Chairman and Founder, Jimmy Eboma, explained the thinking behind the product. “EmoSIM was created for travellers who need seamless connectivity anywhere in the world. Our mission is simple: one eSIM for every travel. Our vision is to make global communication seamless, affordable, and swift,” he said.

Eboma underlined speed of activation, affordability, and convenience as EmoSIM’s strongest selling points. With the service, travellers can activate an eSIM in minutes using just a QR code on their phone, eliminating paperwork and delays.

He also spoke about the security benefits of virtual SIMs compared to traditional plastic SIM cards. “Virtual SIMs cannot be transferred unless both the device and email are compromised. Activation codes are sent only to the user’s email, and eSIM profiles can be deactivated and restored seamlessly in cases of phone theft. With EmoSIM, your identity remains secure, unlike with plastic SIMs, which anyone can use if stolen,” he said.

In its first quarter of operations, the company has already spread across several Southern African Development Community (SADC) nations, including South Africa, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia, Namibia, Mozambique, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Angola, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to Aditya Kholsa, EmoSIM’s Chief Operations Officer, the service was also structured to overcome financial barriers for travellers. “All charges are settled in local currency to avoid dollar conversion restrictions and help strengthen domestic economies. Our flexible plans are tailored for travellers, business professionals, tech-savvy creatives, students, leisure seekers, and migrants,” he explained.

Looking forward, EmoSIM intends to widen its scope beyond international roaming solutions. The company is preparing to roll out Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) services, positioning itself to transform how Africans experience mobile communication both within the continent and overseas.
