Nollywood actress and influencer Annie Macaulay has sparked fresh conversations about her marital journey and recent separation from music legend Innocent “2Baba” Idibia after posting a cryptic message on Instagram.
On Monday, Annie shared a text image that read:
“I hope my daughter doesn’t accept things I’ve accepted, that she knows her worth from the start, and that no matter what, she always has me in her corner.”
The post immediately drew reactions, with many fans interpreting it as a reflection on her struggles during her marriage.
Annie publicly confirmed her split from 2Baba in May 2025 at the 17th Headies Awards in Atlanta. While co-presenting an award with Farooq Oreagba, she introduced herself as “Annie Idi…” before quickly correcting to “Annie Macaulay.” She then playfully added, “Hey, single ladies!” a moment that earned loud applause and was widely regarded as her first public acknowledgment of the breakup.
2Baba had earlier announced the end of their marriage in January 2025, drawing the curtain on a union once celebrated as one of Nigeria’s most iconic celebrity love stories.
The couple married in 2013 in a lavish ceremony and share two daughters. Their relationship, however, was marked by turbulence. For years, tabloids highlighted 2Baba’s ties with Pero Adeniyi and Sunmbo Adeoye, both of whom also bore him children. At the height of these controversies, Annie often defended her marriage publicly, even as 2Baba’s six children with three women made him a constant subject of gossip and speculation.
