Unilever Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to gender inclusion and workplace equity, celebrating the 2025 International Women’s Day with events at its Oregun and Agbara sites.

In a statement, the company highlighted its efforts in bringing together professionals and advocates to discuss how diverse and inclusive leadership fosters a more productive workplace.

Unilever Nigeria’s Managing Director, Tobi Adeniyi, emphasized the company’s dedication to gender equality, stating, “At Unilever, we don’t just talk about inclusion and equity we act on it. Having women in leadership and key roles undeniably creates a healthier, more productive workplace.”

“I  am committed to driving actions that shape an environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.”

Speaking at a panel discussion themed Accelerating Action Through Empowering Experiences, Unilever Nigeria’s National Finance Director, Folake Ogundipe, emphasized the importance of businesses actively advancing diversity and inclusion.

She also praised Unilever’s policies for fostering equal opportunities for all employees.

Access Bank Plc’s Group Chief Financial Officer, Ibukun Oyejide, emphasized the importance of financial independence and leadership development for women.

Oyejide encouraged women to actively pursue leadership roles, urging them to “never doubt their abilities and draw inspiration from deep-rooted values and a sense of purpose.”

Nigerian producer and co-founder of Inkblot Productions, Zulumoke Oyibo, highlighted the power of storytelling in shaping gender inclusion narratives. Representation matters, she stated. “The more we see diverse women in leadership, the more we normalize inclusion and inspire the next generation of women leaders.”

Singer, songwriter, and actor Waje Iruobe addressed the challenges women face in the entertainment industry. She called for intentional support systems to empower women, emphasizing that empowerment comes from creating opportunities to support each other.

The event concluded with a call to action, urging organizations to accelerate gender equity efforts through mentorship, policy development, and inclusive workplaces. Participants later engaged in a sip-and-paint session to relax and network.

Unilever Nigeria also reaffirmed its commitment to gender-friendly policies, including menstrual health leave, 16 weeks of maternity leave, and on-site lactation and childcare facilities for nursing mothers.
