Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has criticised the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Wike described the combination as a partnership between politicians with questionable records, accusing both Atiku and Amaechi of being part of a political establishment that has failed Nigerians.
Speaking during a political engagement, the FCT minister dismissed the opposition platform as a credible alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He questioned the basis of the Atiku-Amaechi alliance, arguing that Nigerians should scrutinise the records of the individuals seeking their votes rather than being carried away by political promises.
Wike, who has remained critical of Atiku since the 2023 presidential election, also maintained that the former vice president and his allies could not present themselves as agents of change.
His comments come as political realignments intensify ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with opposition figures seeking to build a coalition capable of challenging President Bola Tinubu.
The ADC has emerged as one of the platforms attracting prominent opposition politicians, while Atiku and other political leaders continue efforts to consolidate support ahead of the election.
