Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has set up the Labour Party’s campaign team for the 2027 governorship election, with officials appointed to oversee activities across the state.

The campaign organisation covers Abia’s three senatorial districts and the different State Constituencies, providing a framework for coordinating the party’s activities ahead of the election.

The announcement was made by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity.

Under the arrangement, Otti will head the campaign council, while his deputy, Ikechukwu Emetu, will serve as his second-in-command.

Agwu U. Agwu has been selected as the Director-General of the campaign council, with Eric Egwuibe taking responsibility for financial matters.

Chibuzor Obiesili will oversee strategy and planning, while Kelechi Nwaiwu, SAN, has been assigned to handle legal affairs.

Onyebuchi Ememanka will coordinate publicity, while Christian Anokwuru will supervise special duties. Retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Arungwa Nwazue, has also been given responsibility for security matters.

The campaign team has further divided the state into three senatorial areas for easier coordination.

Udochukwu Ogbonna will be responsible for Abia Central, Emeka Charles Kalu will oversee Abia North, while Chimaobi Ebisike will coordinate activities in Abia South.

The party has also appointed individuals to take charge of campaign operations within individual constituencies.

For Ikwuano, Innocent Eleogu was named coordinator, while Obioma Orji will oversee Isiala Ngwa North and Dannie Ubani will coordinate Isiala Ngwa South.

Emmanuel Maduforo Ufomba will be responsible for Osisioma North, with Innocent Enyinnaya Anyanwu assigned to Osisioma South.

In Umuahia, retired Colonel Emeka Chilaka will coordinate Umuahia Central. Okey Onyemuwa will oversee Umuahia East, Aham Uko will take charge of Umuahia North and Jerry Uzosike will coordinate Umuahia South.

The Bende area will be handled by Ikerionwu Okarimie for Bende South and Silas Eke for Bende North.

Emmanuel Okoronkwo was appointed for Isuikwuato, while Mandela Obasi and Kalu Ukwu Uduma will coordinate Ohafia North and Ohafia South respectively.

Kingsley C. Uchechukwu will oversee Umunneochi.

In Aba, Shaka Dimgba Obasi will coordinate Aba Central, George Ezeikpe Okeiyi will handle Aba North and Chidi Onyendi will supervise Aba South.

Other constituencies also received coordinators. Ndubisi Obioha Christopher will oversee Obingwa East, while Jap Nnamdi Onwunali will coordinate Obingwa West. Temple Nwosu was appointed for Ugwunagbo, Paul Taribo for Ukwa East, Ralph Egbu for Ukwa West and Okezie Azuma for Arochukwu.

According to the announcement, the appointments are designed to establish a direct link between the campaign’s leadership, the three senatorial districts and constituency-level structures throughout Abia.

The newly established council is expected to begin its official duties following its inauguration scheduled for Monday, October 5, 2026.

The inauguration will take place at the Michael Okpara Auditorium in Umuahia at 12 noon.

All members of the campaign council have been directed to arrive early and occupy their seats before Governor Otti arrives for the formal ceremony.

The development comes as political parties across the country continue preparations for the 2027 elections, with campaign structures being established at various levels ahead of the polls.
