The Vice-Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has criticised President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing the 2027 presidential election as a choice between life and death.
Amaechi made the remarks during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday while discussing the state of the Nigerian economy and the impact of the government’s economic policies.
The former Rivers State governor argued that rising living costs, transportation fares, house rents and the price of essential medicines had placed significant pressure on Nigerians.
He questioned whether recent salary increases were enough to improve the purchasing power of workers, particularly with taxes and other expenses taking a substantial portion of their earnings.
Amaechi also expressed concern about the rising cost of healthcare, asking how Nigerians who cannot afford essential medicines would cope with the current economic situation.
He subsequently urged Nigerians to support the ADC presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, arguing that the former vice president represented what he described as the “choice of life.”
Amaechi also challenged the Tinubu administration over petrol prices, saying he would withdraw from Atiku’s ticket and campaign for President Tinubu if petrol sold for ₦600 per litre the following day.
The ADC vice-presidential candidate has continued to campaign against the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 election, focusing particularly on the economy and the rising cost of living.
