Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has urged Nigerians to renew their faith in the country and remain committed to building a stronger, more prosperous and secure Nigeria as the nation marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Barau, in a goodwill message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, called on citizens to reflect on Nigeria’s journey since independence and uphold the values of unity, peace, justice and tolerance.
He acknowledged that Nigeria has made significant progress over the past 66 years but noted that the country still faces various challenges. According to him, unity, resilience and collective commitment are necessary for Nigeria to overcome its present difficulties.
The Deputy Senate President also urged Nigerians to support the policies and programmes of President Bola Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Barau said the National Assembly would continue to provide the legislative support required to address the country’s economic, security and developmental challenges.
He also highlighted the State Police Bill currently before state Houses of Assembly, saying its passage and subsequent assent could strengthen internal security and help address security challenges in different parts of the country.
The lawmaker urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and play their part in building the country they desire, while wishing citizens a peaceful and memorable 66th Independence Anniversary.
