2027: Tinubu, Atiku, Obi Lack Capacity to Move Nigeria Forward – SDP

The Presidential Campaign Council of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has said President Bola Tinubu, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi lack the capacity to move Nigeria forward if elected president in 2027.

The council’s Chief Communications Adviser, Mark Adebayo, made the statement on Saturday at a press conference in Abuja, where he urged Nigerians to actively participate in the 2027 election and protect their votes.

Adebayo said the SDP presidential candidate, Adewole Adebayo, was better prepared to lead the country, describing him as intellectually equipped and backed by a comprehensive policy blueprint to address Nigeria’s challenges.

He accused what he described as the country’s established political class of failing Nigerians, alleging that many politicians view public office as an avenue for personal enrichment.

According to him, the major political tendencies in the country have failed to provide the leadership Nigerians deserve, describing them as “two sides of the same coin.”

Adebayo also claimed that Adewole Adebayo’s policy proposals were superior to those of Atiku and Obi, particularly in the areas of economic management, labour, production and governance.

He further criticised the records of the two former governors, arguing that the SDP candidate had presented a more consistent and practical approach to addressing the country’s challenges.

Speaking about the Tinubu administration, Adebayo accused the government of worsening poverty, hunger and insecurity, insisting that there was no basis for comparing the president with the SDP candidate.

He said Nigerians must vote massively and protect their ballots to ensure the emergence of credible leadership in 2027.

Adebayo also expressed confidence that Tinubu would lose the 2027 presidential election if it was conducted freely and fairly.

He pointed to Adewole Adebayo’s policy document, titled Farewell to Poverty and Insecurity, as evidence of the candidate’s preparedness to tackle economic hardship, infrastructure deficits and insecurity.

The SDP campaign council consequently urged Nigerians to consider Adewole Adebayo as a credible “third force” ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
