Liam Delap has joined Nottingham Forest in a club-record £50m deal, putting pen to paper on a five-year contract at the City Ground.
The 23-year-old forward arrives from Chelsea after a difficult first season with the London club, where he managed just one Premier League goal.
Delap will be hoping his move to Forest can put his career back on track and bring back the form he displayed during his breakthrough campaign with Ipswich Town in 2024/25.
He netted 12 league goals for Ipswich despite the club winning only four matches and eventually suffering relegation from the Premier League.
His performances earned him a move to Chelsea for around £30m. Just 12 months later, the Blues have reportedly sold him for £50m, giving them a reported £20m profit on the transfer.
Delap made a strong impression at Ipswich with his strength, speed and ability to drive forward with the ball. He completed 26 carries that ended in shots during that campaign, the highest figure recorded by a Premier League striker.
At Forest, Delap will now work with manager Oliver Glasner, who the striker believes can play an important role in his continued development.
Speaking about the move, Delap said Forest’s history and ambition attracted him, while also praising Glasner’s approach and his ability to help players improve.
Forest will be hoping their record signing can rediscover his Ipswich form and repay the faith shown in him with his £50m arrival.
