Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodriguez have officially exchanged vows, ending years of speculation about whether the couple would eventually marry.
The pair celebrated their union on Tuesday at a private gathering in Cascais, Portugal, surrounded by their children and close family.
Ronaldo personally appeared to confirm the development online, posting a photograph of his hand alongside Rodriguez’s, with both wearing wedding rings. The footballer added the brief message, “C ❤️ G.”
Their five children were among those present at the low-key celebration, which was deliberately kept away from the public eye.
The marriage follows several years of speculation surrounding the couple’s plans. Rodriguez announced their engagement on social media one year before the wedding, setting the stage for their long-awaited union.
Before the ceremony, Portuguese reports offered several possible locations, including Sintra and Funchal. Attention became particularly intense in Funchal, Ronaldo’s birthplace, after reports suggested the city would host the event.
The rumours drew crowds to a local cathedral, although church officials said they were not expecting Ronaldo and Rodriguez to marry there.
Cascais ultimately became the chosen destination. The exclusive seaside town, situated west of Lisbon, is also home to one of the properties owned by the couple.
Ronaldo and Rodriguez began their relationship after meeting in Madrid in 2016. At the time, Rodriguez worked at a Gucci shop. She later recalled feeling an immediate connection with Ronaldo when they first met.
Their relationship has since developed into one of the most closely followed celebrity partnerships globally. The pair have built a huge online audience, with their combined social media following now exceeding 750 million.
They have also expanded their wealth beyond football and modelling, with interests in clothing, fashion ventures and hotels.
At 41, Ronaldo remains a major figure in world football. The Portuguese star has collected five Ballon d’Or awards and has enjoyed successful spells at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus. He now represents Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr.
Rodriguez, 32, has carved out her own place in the entertainment and fashion industries. Her Netflix programme, I Am Georgina, offers viewers a glimpse into her lifestyle, family experiences and travels.
Their wedding now adds a new chapter to a relationship that began in Madrid nearly a decade ago and has grown into a global celebrity partnership.
