Saudi Arabian side Al Diriyah are set to return with a bigger bid for Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi after Besiktas turned down their opening offer for the midfielder.
The Saudi club reportedly submitted a €7m proposal for the Super Eagles captain, but Besiktas rejected the approach. According to Turkish newspaper Fanatik, Al Diriyah remain interested in Ndidi and are preparing an improved offer as they continue their search for midfield reinforcements.
Ndidi has become an important player for the Istanbul-based club since arriving from Leicester City last summer. His experience, composure and ability to protect the defence have made him a key part of the team.
The 29-year-old recently demonstrated his value again during Besiktas’ UEFA Conference League qualifying clash with FC Hradec Kralove at the Malsovicka Arena.
Returning from an injury absence, Ndidi came on after the break and quickly influenced the game. He set up Semih Kilicsoy for the only goal of the match, helping Besiktas claim a 1-0 victory.
His performances have continued to attract attention, with interest from Saudi Arabia now increasing ahead of the close of the summer transfer window.
Besiktas are also understood to be preparing for different possibilities in midfield. The Turkish giants have reportedly opened discussions over a possible free-transfer deal for Ivory Coast international Franck Kessie, should Ndidi eventually leave the club.
