Nigeria’s Super Falcons have secured a place in the quarter-finals of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after recording a convincing victory over Egypt in their latest group-stage encounter.

The Nigerian team produced a strong performance from the start, displaying attacking quality, defensive discipline and the experience that has made them one of Africa’s most successful women’s football teams.

The result strengthened the Falcons’ campaign as they continue their pursuit of another continental title. Nigeria, who have dominated African women’s football for decades, entered the tournament with high expectations and have continued to show why they remain among the favourites.

Key players stepped up during the match, with the team’s attacking movement and coordinated play causing problems for the Egyptian defence throughout the encounter. The victory also highlighted the depth and quality within the Super Falcons squad.

Coach Justine Madugu’s side maintained control of the game by combining tactical organisation with individual brilliance, ensuring Egypt struggled to build momentum.

The win means Nigeria advance to the knockout stage with renewed confidence as they prepare for a tougher challenge in the quarter-finals. The team will now focus on recovery and preparations for the next stage of the competition.

Football analysts have praised the Super Falcons’ performance, noting that their experience, squad strength and winning mentality could prove important as the tournament reaches its decisive stages.

With the quarter-finals ahead, Nigerian fans will be hoping the Falcons can maintain their impressive form and continue their push for another WAFCON trophy.
