Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set for another crucial test at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) as they prepare to face Egypt, with forward Rinsola Babajide expressing confidence in the team’s ambition to succeed at the continental tournament.

The defending champions entered the competition with the target of extending Nigeria’s dominance in African women’s football. The Falcons are aiming for another title after their historic success in previous editions of the competition.

Babajide, one of Nigeria’s attacking options, has remained focused on helping the team achieve its objectives as the Falcons continue their campaign in Morocco. She is part of a squad featuring experienced players and emerging talents selected by head coach Justine Madugu for the tournament.

Nigeria’s clash with Egypt represents an important moment in the group stage, as both teams battle for progress in the competition. The Super Falcons are drawn in Group C alongside Egypt, Zambia and Malawi, making every match highly competitive.

The Nigerian team boasts several key players, including captain Rasheedat Ajibade, goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and veteran forward Asisat Oshoala, as they seek another strong performance on the African stage.

Babajide and her teammates are expected to rely on experience, teamwork and determination as they continue their quest for continental success. The tournament also carries additional importance because it serves as part of Africa’s qualification pathway for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Football analysts believe the Super Falcons remain among the favourites for the competition due to their history, squad depth and experience. However, they have warned that emerging teams across Africa have improved significantly and will provide strong challenges.

As the WAFCON tournament progresses, Nigerian fans will be hoping the Falcons can maintain their reputation as one of Africa’s most successful women’s football teams and secure another memorable campaign.
