Belgian giants Anderlecht have entered the race for Super Eagles winger Chidera Ejuke, tabling a €3.5 million (about N5.5 billion) offer for the Sevilla player ahead of the new season.
Ejuke appears set for an exit from the La Liga side after being informed that he is not part of the club’s plans for the upcoming campaign. Despite having one year remaining on his contract, Sevilla are prepared to listen to offers and are believed to value the Nigerian at around €3 million.
The 28-year-old took part in pre-season preparations but was omitted from Sevilla’s travelling squad for their tour of the Netherlands, a decision that further fuelled speculation over his imminent departure.
Reports from Spain indicate that Anderlecht are keen to bolster their attacking options as they seek to compete strongly against rivals Union Saint-Gilloise and Club Brugge in the Belgian top flight.
Ejuke is already familiar with Belgian football, having featured for Antwerp during the 2023/24 season. He impressed with four goals and four assists in 29 league outings before securing a move to Sevilla.
His time in Spain, however, has not gone as expected. Since joining the club on a free transfer two years ago, the Nigerian international has registered three goals and two assists in 52 appearances.
Anderlecht may not have a clear path to completing the transfer, as clubs from Saudi Arabia are also monitoring the winger’s situation and could tempt him with bigger financial offers. With the transfer market still open, the battle for Ejuke’s signature is expected to intensify in the coming weeks.
