Nigerian sprint star Udodi Onwuzurike has expressed his determination to achieve more in his athletics career despite making history by ending Nigeria’s long wait for a major 200m medal.

Onwuzurike, who has continued to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s leading sprinters, said the milestone represents an important achievement but believes he still has more to accomplish on the global stage.

The young athlete’s breakthrough performance has renewed hopes among Nigerian athletics supporters, who see him as part of a new generation capable of competing with the world’s best sprinters. His progress has also been highlighted through recent podium performances ahead of major competitions.

Reflecting on his journey, Onwuzurike acknowledged the significance of his achievement but maintained that he is focused on improving his performance, gaining more experience and challenging for bigger honours.

The sprinter has continued to work on consistency and development as he prepares for future international competitions, with the aim of representing Nigeria at the highest level.

Athletics observers believe Onwuzurike’s rise is a positive sign for Nigerian track and field, especially as the country continues efforts to rebuild its presence on the global athletics stage.

Despite the recognition that has followed his achievements, Onwuzurike remains focused on the future, insisting that his journey is far from complete and that he wants to reach greater heights in his career.
