Jeff Stelling has backed Arsenal as the strongest contenders to win this season’s Premier League, saying Mikel Arteta’s side are the team everyone else has to catch.
The longtime Sky Sports presenter believes Arsenal have a clear edge over their rivals, insisting that none of the other title challengers have done enough in the transfer market to close the gap.
The North London club go into the new campaign full of confidence after lifting the Premier League trophy last season ahead of Manchester City and Manchester United.
They also enjoyed an impressive run to the UEFA Champions League final, where they were beaten by Paris Saint-Germain.
With Arteta adding more quality to his squad this summer, Arsenal are aiming to challenge strongly in both the Premier League and Europe.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, Stelling said, “For me, the challengers are not getting stronger.
“So at the moment, Arsenal, for me, are the clear, clear favourites in terms of the Premier League, but it’s a question of what they can do in Europe as well.”
