Barcelona have committed Andreas Christensen to a new long-term contract, with the Danish defender set to remain at the club until the summer of 2028.
The La Liga holders announced the agreement on Wednesday, ending uncertainty over the 30-year-old’s future after his previous contract ran out in June.
Christensen’s spell in Spain has been disrupted by several injury setbacks, but the experienced centre-back has chosen to continue his career at the Catalan side. Spanish media reports say he accepted a lower salary to make the renewal possible.
The club confirmed that both parties had finalised an agreement that extends the Denmark international’s stay for another three years.
The former Chelsea defender joined Barcelona on a free transfer in 2022 and quickly established himself as a regular in the backline. His performances were instrumental in the club’s league-winning campaign during his first season.
Across all competitions, Christensen has featured 98 times in Barcelona colours and has added several honours to his career, including three La Liga titles, the Copa del Rey and other domestic silverware.
