Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has applauded Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen after the striker played a key role in helping Galatasaray secure the Turkish Süper Lig crown.
Osimhen netted a brace in the crucial match that confirmed the league triumph for the Turkish club, further highlighting his reputation as one of Nigeria’s finest football stars abroad.
In a message posted on his X account on Monday, Obi commended the Super Eagles attacker for his determination, professionalism, and outstanding performances.
“I join millions of supporters in celebrating one of Nigeria’s exceptional talents, Victor Osimhen, for guiding Galatasaray to the Turkish Süper Lig title with an outstanding display, scoring twice in the game that confirmed the championship,” Obi wrote.
He noted that the striker’s accomplishments serve as motivation for many Nigerian youths to remain focused and hardworking in pursuit of success.
“Your determination, discipline, and exceptional ability continue to encourage countless young Nigerians to trust in diligence, commitment, and excellence. You have consistently represented Nigeria positively on the international stage, bringing pride to the country through your achievements and character,” he added.
Obi also highlighted the need for greater attention and investment in sports development across the country, expressing concern over the continued neglect of the sector despite Nigeria’s abundance of gifted athletes.
