Brighton & Hove Albion’s narrow victory over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium was largely secured by the brilliance of Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie, whose performance has now earned her a place in Sky Sports analyst Izzy Christiansen’s Women’s Super League Team of the Week for Matchday 19.

The Super Falcons star was outstanding between the posts as she helped Brighton secure a 1–0 win on Sunday, recording her sixth clean sheet of the season in the process.

One of the highlights of her performance was her quick reaction to stop Shannon O’Brien after reading the danger early. She also showed confidence late in the game when she dealt calmly with a threatening corner kick to help her team hold on to the victory.

Her inclusion in the weekly selection puts her in the company of some of the league’s best performers. Manchester City defenders Alex Greenwood and Rebecca Knaak were selected in defence alongside Aston Villa’s Lynn Wilms.

The midfield selections include Lauren Hemp, Chelsea’s Sjoeke Nüsken, Tottenham Hotspur’s Signe Gaupset and Liverpool’s Ceri Holland. In attack, Aston Villa’s Kirsty Hanson, Arsenal forward Alessia Russo and Chelsea’s Lauren James made the list, while Manchester City manager Andrée Jeglertz was chosen as the standout coach.

Nnadozie’s recognition comes as a reward for her consistency this season. She currently has the best save rate in the league at 75.7 percent, averages 3.30 saves per match which ranks her among the top goalkeepers, and leads the goals-prevented statistics with a 3.40 rating. Her clean sheet record also puts her among the top goalkeepers, just behind Chelsea’s Hannah Hampton.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian goalkeeper has also shared her disappointment over the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. The competition, which was originally scheduled for March, has now been moved to July.

According to her, the players were unhappy with the decision because they had already begun serious preparations for the tournament.

“We are not happy about the postponement because we had already started preparing seriously,” she said.
