President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has formally decorated Tunji Disu as the Acting Inspector-General of Police during a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The event followed Disu’s appointment as the new head of the Nigeria Police Force after the exit of former police chief, Kayode Egbetokun. The decoration officially signifies his assumption of leadership responsibilities within the Force.
Top government officials and senior security officers attended the ceremony, which marked a significant moment in the country’s security leadership. While addressing the gathering, President Tinubu urged the newly appointed police boss to strengthen professionalism, promote discipline, and improve public trust in policing nationwide.
The President expressed optimism that Disu’s experience in law enforcement and previous operational roles would contribute positively to ongoing efforts aimed at tackling insecurity and enhancing safety across Nigeria.
Following the decoration, Disu thanked the President for the confidence placed in him and assured Nigerians of his commitment to effective policing, accountability, and improved service delivery. He pledged to work closely with officers and relevant stakeholders to address security challenges confronting the nation.
Prior to his appointment, Disu held several strategic positions within the Nigeria Police Force, including leadership roles in investigative and operational commands across different states.
His decoration marks the beginning of a new phase in the leadership of the Nigeria Police Force as authorities seek stronger security coordination nationwide.
