The Federal Government has opened applications for the 2026 foreign scholarship programme, offering qualified Nigerians the opportunity to pursue postgraduate studies in selected institutions outside the country.

The scheme includes the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Overseas Scholarship, which provides Nigerian postgraduate students with the chance to study in the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Malaysia, particularly in oil and gas–related fields.

The announcement was confirmed in a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the Office of the Special Adviser to the President on Social Media, Dada Olusegun, on Monday.

“FG has announced the commencement of applications for 2026 Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) Scholarships overseas,” the post said.

Managed by relevant government agencies under the supervision of the Ministry of Education, the scholarship initiative is aimed at strengthening technical expertise and developing skilled manpower critical to national development.

Applicants are required to meet the specified academic and eligibility criteria for their chosen programme and country of study. Interested candidates have been advised to apply through the official scholarship portals within the announced timeframe, as the application process is free.

“All applicants must ensure their National Identity Number (NIN) is verified prior to application, and multiple applications or submission of falsified documents will result in automatic disqualification,” the PTDF statement added.

The Federal Government encouraged eligible Nigerians to take advantage of the opportunity, noting that beneficiaries of previous editions have gone on to contribute meaningfully to various sectors of the economy.
