Nigeria wrapped up their AFCON 2025 group campaign in style with a confident 3–1 victory over Uganda, sealing an unbeaten run in the group stage and underlining their status as strong contenders for the title.

The Super Eagles started the match with purpose, dictating the tempo and showing clear intent from the opening minutes. Their early dominance paid off when a well-worked attacking move led to the opening goal, setting the tone for the rest of the encounter. Uganda tried to respond by tightening their shape and pressing higher up the pitch, but Nigeria’s composure and technical quality continued to shine through.

Before halftime, Nigeria doubled their advantage, capitalising on a defensive lapse to stretch their lead and put themselves firmly in control. Uganda, however, refused to back down and came out after the break with renewed energy. Their persistence was rewarded with a goal that briefly reignited hope and brought tension into the game.

Any thoughts of a comeback were quickly extinguished as Nigeria found a third goal, restoring their two-goal cushion and calming nerves. From that point on, the Super Eagles managed the game intelligently, keeping possession and limiting Uganda’s chances while seeing out the result comfortably.

The win ensured Nigeria finished top of their group without a single defeat, a performance that reflects their consistency, depth, and tactical discipline. With momentum on their side, the Super Eagles now head into the knockout stage full of confidence, knowing they have laid down a strong marker for the rest of the tournament.
