A major Boxing Day attraction is set to light up Lagos as GOtv Boxing Night reaches its 34th edition with the Jam Festival, scheduled for Friday at Tafawa Balewa Square.
The programme will showcase six officially sanctioned fights, with the headline contest centred on the national super bantamweight belt. Rising contender Sodiq “Happy Boy” Adeleke will challenge current champion Durotimi “Tiny” Agboola in a contest expected to shape the future of both athletes. Adeleke enters the ring in pursuit of his maiden national honour, while Agboola looks to preserve his dominance in the division.
International flavour will be added through a special catchweight clash between Nigerian boxer Rasheed “ID Buster” Idowu and Ghanaian fighter Nii Offei Dodoo, renewing a long-standing cross-border rivalry. Other matchups on the night include a lightweight encounter between Segun “Odi” Gbobaniyi and Tobiloba “Smiling Assassin” Ijomoni, a light welterweight bout featuring Sodiq “Smart Lion” Suleiman against Emmanuel “Ability” Abimbola, and a super bantamweight pairing of Ezekiel “Touch” Seun with Toheeb “Full Tank” Hassan. The fight card is completed by a meeting between Sadam “Baby Boxer” Oladipupo and Imole “System” Oloyede.
In keeping with the Jam Festival theme, the evening will extend beyond boxing, incorporating musical and comic attractions. Performances are expected from emerging singers Shoday and Mavo, while comedy group Triclowns will entertain the crowd, creating a festive Boxing Day atmosphere.
Activities will commence at 4pm, with live broadcast available on SS Africa 1 through GOtv Channel 63 and DStv Channel 207. The event is presented by GOtv, with additional backing from MultiChoice, Renmoney, ZetaWeb, TheCable, and the Lagos State Sports Commission.
