The Falconets, Nigeria’s U-20 women’s football team, closed out the 2025 WAFU Zone B U-20 Women’s Cup in Benin Republic in dominant style, winning all their matches to emerge undisputed champions. Their final outing ended with a 1–0 victory over hosts Benin Republic on Wednesday at the Omnisport Stadium in Adjohoun.
Even before the last fixture, the Nigerian side had already sealed the title but still approached the game with intensity. Their only goal came in the 16th minute through in-form striker Ramotalahi Kareem, who confidently converted after a well-timed pass. Her fourth goal of the tournament also secured her the top scorer’s award.
Throughout the game, the Falconets displayed control and creativity, carving out multiple scoring chances but failing to add more goals. Benin tried to fight back after halftime, yet Nigeria’s defence stayed compact and disciplined to see out the win.
Under coach Moses Aduku, the team completed the tournament with a flawless 12 points from four matches, scoring ten goals and conceding just one. Ghana followed with six points, while the hosts ended without a single point.
Midfielder Kafayat Mafisere’s tireless work earned her the Woman of the Match honour, while Ghana’s Sarah Nyarko was named the tournament’s Best Player for her outstanding contribution of three goals and one assist.
It was a commanding campaign for the Falconets, who had earlier recorded 3–0 victories over both Ghana and Benin, and another 3–0 triumph against Ghana that confirmed their status as champions even before the final whistle of the competition.
