NEM Insurance Plc recently organised a fitness walk aimed at promoting insurance awareness and encouraging healthy living among Nigerians. The event, themed “NEM Fitness Walk,Walk with Us, Feel the Difference,” was part of the company’s broader initiative to combine wellness advocacy with public sensitisation on the importance of insurance.
In a statement released on Sunday, the company explained that the fitness walk brought together staff and management from NEM Insurance and its subsidiaries. The exercise was led by the firm’s Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Andrew Ikekhua, and began at the company’s headquarters in Lagos. Participants walked through Maryland before returning to the head office, engaging the public along the route and distributing information about the company’s insurance offerings.
Speaking during the event, Mr. Ikekhua said the initiative was designed not only to promote the physical fitness and mental well-being of staff but also to raise awareness about the vital role insurance plays in safeguarding lives and assets. He emphasised that insurance remains a key tool for achieving financial peace of mind, urging Nigerians to prioritise insuring their assets.
“Insurance is the only asset Nigerians have that guarantees peace of mind,” he said. “I always advise people to ensure all their valuable assets are properly insured, and insured with NEM Insurance Plc. This walk is part of our effort to reach out to the public, showcase who we are, and promote our range of products and services. We are here today to remind Nigerians that NEM Insurance offers protection and reliability across different sectors. So, we encourage everyone to buy NEM Insurance products.”
Mr. Ikekhua also used the opportunity to highlight the company’s expanding business structure and diversified services. He explained that NEM Insurance’s subsidiaries, including NEM Asset Management, have been instrumental in strengthening the group’s brand and service delivery. According to him, the company is building a unified corporate structure,an “NEM Group,to bring all its products and subsidiaries under one umbrella for greater convenience and accessibility.
“We are forming an NEM Group so that we have all our products under one umbrella, like a supermarket,” he explained. “That way, customers who come to buy insurance can also access products and services from our subsidiaries without hassle.”
He reaffirmed the company’s commitment to exploring innovative ways of engaging with the public and deepening insurance penetration across the country. The firm, he said, will continue to leverage community-driven initiatives like the fitness walk to connect with both existing and potential customers while promoting the culture of insurance education and wellness.
The event also reflected NEM Insurance’s dedication to corporate social responsibility by encouraging fitness, teamwork, and public interaction. It demonstrated how insurance firms can build stronger relationships with communities through health-based awareness initiatives.
By blending health advocacy with public education, NEM Insurance aims to inspire a healthier, better-informed population while reinforcing its position as a trusted leader in Nigeria’s insurance industry.
