La Liga: Rashford Enjoying Football at Barcelona, Eyes Permanent Move

Barcelona forward Marcus Rashford has expressed his delight at rediscovering his form and passion for football since joining the Catalan giants from Manchester United. The England international, who made a surprise loan move to Barcelona in the summer transfer window, revealed that he is “enjoying football again” and would love to make his stay in Spain permanent.
‎
‎Rashford, 27, joined Barcelona on a season-long loan after a challenging spell at Manchester United, where inconsistent form and injuries saw him fall out of favour under manager Erik ten Hag. The move, initially viewed by many as a gamble, appears to be paying off as the attacker has found renewed confidence and motivation at Camp Nou.
‎
‎Speaking in an interview with ESPN, Rashford said he was relishing the opportunity to play for one of the most historic clubs in football. “I’m enjoying this football club, and I think for anybody who loves football, Barcelona is one of the biggest clubs in the history of the game. For a player, it’s an honour to wear this shirt,” Rashford said.
‎
‎He added that the change of environment was exactly what he needed after spending nearly his entire career at Old Trafford. “People forget, I’ve been at Manchester United all my life. Sometimes, you just need a change, a new challenge, a new atmosphere. I think maybe this is what I needed. I’m enjoying everything  the training, the culture, the fans, and the way football is played here.”
‎
‎Rashford’s comments come amid reports that Barcelona are considering activating the option-to-buy clause in his loan deal, which would allow the Spanish club to sign him permanently for around €30 million next summer. Sources within the club have reportedly expressed satisfaction with his work ethic, attitude, and performance level since his arrival.
‎
‎Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has also spoken positively about Rashford’s adaptation to the team’s style of play. The German tactician believes the Englishman’s pace, versatility, and technical ability add valuable depth to the squad. Rashford has primarily been used on the left flank, where he has linked up effectively with the likes of Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.
‎
‎During the interview, Rashford highlighted the differences between La Liga and the Premier League, noting that Spanish football’s emphasis on tactical intelligence and technical precision has helped him develop as a player. “In England, the game is faster and more physical, but here, it’s about decision-making, reading the game, and being smart with the ball. It’s made me think more and play differently. I’m learning every day,” he said.
‎
‎The former Manchester United academy graduate also spoke about his personal growth and renewed focus after a turbulent few years marked by criticism and off-field scrutiny. “When things don’t go your way for a long time, it’s easy to lose that spark. But I’ve found my joy again here. Every day I wake up happy to go to training, and that’s something I had been missing,” he noted.
‎
‎Asked about his future, Rashford admitted that while his current focus remains on performing well for Barcelona this season, he would be open to a permanent move if the opportunity arises. “Right now, I’m focused on helping the team and improving my game. But of course, if things go well and the club wants me to stay, I would love that. Barcelona is a special place, and I feel at home here,” he said.
‎
‎His resurgence at Barcelona comes as a relief to fans who had feared his career was stagnating at Manchester United. Rashford’s energy, direct style, and confidence on the ball have brought a new dimension to Barcelona’s attack, with early performances earning him praise from supporters and pundits alike.
‎
‎Meanwhile, Manchester United are reportedly monitoring his progress closely, with the English club expected to make a decision on his long-term future at the end of the season. United manager Erik ten Hag previously stated that the door remains open for Rashford’s return, but the player’s growing happiness in Spain could make that reunion unlikely.
‎
‎As Rashford prepares for his first-ever El Clásico clash against Real Madrid, he said he was eager to embrace the moment. “It’s the biggest game in world football. Every player dreams of being part of it, and I can’t wait to experience it,” he said.
‎
‎If Rashford maintains his form throughout the season, a permanent move to Barcelona could mark a new and defining chapter in his career one that reaffirms his place among Europe’s elite attackers.
