(NCRIB) the  Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance has elected Mrs. Ezeoma Ezeibe as its third female president in 63 years. The council, which represents all registered insurance brokers in Nigeria, announced that her inauguration will take place on October 24, 2025, in Lagos.

Ezeibe, an accomplished insurance lawyer and broker, has served on the NCRIB Governing Board in several leadership capacities, including Vice President and Deputy President. The council described her as a woman of integrity and deep professional insight whose leadership will strengthen the council’s position as a key institution within Nigeria’s financial sector.

Born a princess, Ezeibe attended Holy Rosary Secondary School, Umuahia, and Our Lady of Mount Carmel College, Emekuku, in Imo State. She studied law at the former Imo State University, now Abia State University, graduating over four decades ago. She earned her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree 39 years ago, attended the Nigerian Law School in Lagos, and was called to the Bar 38 years ago. She later obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M) from the University of Lagos.

Her career in insurance began during her National Youth Service at Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation (Nigeria Re) in 1987/1988, where she worked under the mentorship of Professor Joe Irukwu, SAN. She was later retained by Nigeria Re, marking the beginning of a successful career in the industry. In 1991, she joined Liberty Assurance Company Limited as Company Secretary, Legal Adviser, and Head of Claims. The following year, she became the pioneer Company Secretary and Legal Adviser at Industrial & General Insurance Company Limited.

Ezeibe later co-founded Crystal Trust Insurance Brokers Limited with her husband, where she currently serves as Managing Director and CEO. She holds multiple professional qualifications, including Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute (London) with distinctions, Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, and Fellow of the Council of Registered Insurance Brokers.

A passionate educator and advocate for professional excellence, Ezeibe has delivered over 40 pro bono lectures on law, regulation, and insurance across leading platforms such as the NCRIB, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria, Insurance Industry Consultative Council, and African Insurance Brokers Association. She has also lectured Marine Insurance at the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping for the past 14 years.

Within the NCRIB, she has held several strategic positions, including Honorary Treasurer (2017–2019), Vice President (2021–2023), and Deputy President (2023–2025). Beyond Nigeria, she has made her mark at the continental level, serving as Secretary (2022–2024), Treasurer (2024–2025), and now Vice Chair of the African Insurance Brokers Association the first woman to hold that office.

Ezeibe also contributed to the establishment of the Africa Insurance Women Association, helping draft its constitution and officiating the inauguration of its first president in Algiers in 2023.

Her emergence as NCRIB President crowns a distinguished career defined by integrity, excellence, and decades of service to the insurance profession in Nigeria and across Africa.
