Nigeria’s finest amateur football clubs, Ikorodu City FA and ISAGT, are gearing up for a high-stakes faceoff today (Thursday) at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, where the winner will claim the ₦10 million grand prize in the 2025 edition of the 1xCup tournament.
Both teams have been in top form from the group stages to the semis, arriving at the final unbeaten and brimming with confidence. Before the curtain-raiser, Nath Boys FA will go head-to-head with Dosu Joseph FC in the third-place clash, battling for a ₦3 million reward.
This year’s 1xCup boasts a total prize fund of ₦20 million, with ₦10 million reserved for the champions and ₦5 million for the runners-up.
Backed by 1xBet, the tournament has become Nigeria’s biggest platform for amateur football, attracting over 450 participating teams in 2025—nearly triple last year’s turnout.
Over the months, the competition has not only pulled massive crowds from local communities but also caught the eyes of professional scouts eager to spot the next generation of Nigerian football stars. In the semi-finals, Ikorodu City FA triumphed over Nath Boys FA 4–1 on penalties after a 1–1 draw, while ISAGT comfortably defeated Dosu Joseph FC 2–0 to secure their place in the final.
With both sides showing strong tactical organisation and attacking creativity, the stage is set for a captivating finale under the Lagos lights.
According to the organisers, the 1xCup serves as “a unifying force that celebrates sporting spirit and community pride.”
