Kennedy Boboye has been appointed as the new technical manager of Bendel Insurance Football Club, just a week after the suspension of Coach Greg Ikhenoba. The announcement was made on Monday in a statement issued by the club’s Director of Media and Communications, Kehinde Osagiede.
The club revealed that Boboye’s appointment came after a mutual agreement between both parties, with the former NPFL-winning coach set to assume control of the team’s technical department immediately.
Following a thorough assessment, the management found Boboye to be the ideal fit for the position, citing his impressive credentials, wealth of experience, and strong track record in the Nigeria Premier Football League. He has been offered a two-year contract and will be officially unveiled in Benin City on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
The Benin Arsenals expressed optimism that Boboye’s appointment will usher in a new era of improved performances and renewed confidence in the ongoing season. They also highlighted the club’s commitment to building a solid technical foundation that will ensure consistent progress both in domestic and continental competitions. The management believes Boboye’s tactical knowledge, discipline, and motivational approach will help elevate the team’s performance and inspire the players to compete at a higher level.
Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Enabulele, commended Coach Baldwin Bazuaye (MON) for holding the fort as interim manager following Ikhenoba’s suspension on October 6. Bazuaye, a former Super Eagles player and Executive Director of the Commission, had led the team in the interim before Boboye’s arrival. He was praised for maintaining stability within the squad and ensuring the team remained focused despite the managerial transition.
With Boboye now at the helm, expectations are high among supporters and stakeholders that Bendel Insurance will rediscover its form and continue its pursuit of excellence in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
