The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 Lagos election, Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor, has declared his intention to contest again in 2027. Speaking to journalists in Lagos, Jandor said he remains committed to his vision of a better Lagos, but also expressed readiness to support whoever emerges as the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Jandor, who was the PDP flagbearer during the last election, emphasized that his political journey is one of service, not desperation. According to him, Lagosians deserve quality governance and inclusive development, regardless of party affiliation.
“I will be on the ballot in 2027 because my dream for Lagos remains alive. But beyond personal ambition, I will also support the APC candidate if that is where the collective interest of Lagosians aligns. For me, it is about the people and the state, not self,” he said.
He further noted that the 2023 election was a learning experience, which has strengthened his resolve to continue engaging with residents, grassroots leaders, and civil society. Jandor stressed that collaboration, not rivalry, is the key to achieving a Lagos that works for everyone.
While reaffirming his loyalty to the PDP, he clarified that his willingness to support an APC candidate does not mean abandoning his party, but rather reflects his belief in prioritizing good governance over partisanship. “I belong to PDP, and that is where my political structure lies. But I will never oppose policies or candidates that genuinely serve Lagos. Politics should not be about enmity but about service,” he said.
Observers say Jandor’s statement signals a more inclusive and reconciliatory tone in Lagos politics, where party rivalries have often overshadowed development priorities. His position could also reshape alliances ahead of 2027, especially as both PDP and APC prepare to strengthen their grassroots structures.
