South Africa’s breakout sensation Tyla has officially secured the Best Afrobeats award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards, thanks to her viral smash “PUSH 2 START.”

The Monday morning announcement sparked celebrations online, with Tyla sharing her excitement and gratitude to fans across social media.

Her win is yet another sign of Afrobeats’ unstoppable global takeover. Alongside Tyla, Nigerian hitmakers Asake, Burna Boy, Rema, Tems, and Ayra Starr all earned nominations this year, proving that African artists are not just part of the conversation  they’re leading it.
