Nigerian Military Records Major Success Against Terrorists in North East

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced that it neutralised more than 30 terrorists during a joint operation with ground troops in Borno State.

NAF’s Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed in a statement that the operation took place on September 5, 2025, at Dar-El-Jamal village in Bama Local Government Area. The mission followed reports of intense clashes between terrorists and friendly forces.

According to Ejodame, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai deployed Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (ISR) platforms, alongside an air interdiction mission. Aircrews identified fleeing terrorists and executed three precision strikes, killing over 30 insurgents. Ground reinforcement troops later moved in to secure the area.

“The operation underscores the seamless synergy between air and ground forces, and reflects our commitment to dismantling terrorist networks, protecting vulnerable communities, and restoring stability in the North East,” Ejodame said.

Borno State and other parts of the North East have remained hotspots for Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) attacks, which have led to tens of thousands of deaths and displaced millions of people.

Since 2021, the military has intensified coordinated operations under Operation Hadin Kai, reclaiming towns and disrupting insurgent activities, with recent gains recorded in Bama, Konduga, and Marte. However, sporadic attacks continue, highlighting the persistent security challenges in the region.
