Seasoned centre-forward Edin Džeko is back in Italy’s premier division, arriving at Fiorentina on a no-fee switch from Fenerbahçe, the Tuscan outfit confirmed on Thursday.
The 39-year-old penned a 12-month contract that will automatically roll into a second campaign “if certain conditions are met”.
Džeko spent six campaigns in Italy’s top flight with Roma before a two-season stint at Inter Milan, lifting the Coppa Italia in both 2022 and 2023.
The record marksman for Bosnia-Herzegovina—twice an English top-tier champion during his Manchester City days—registered 21 strikes across all competitions for José Mourinho’s Fenerbahçe last season before his deal ran out.
Fiorentina concluded the previous league campaign in sixth place, earning a berth in the UEFA Conference League.
Ex-AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli is widely tipped to take charge following the unexpected exit of Raffaele Palladino.
